After more than a decade of development, new-energy buses have become increasingly common across the country. While playing a key role in energy conservation and emission reduction, they are also continuously driving the industry’s maturation through technological advancements.
China’s new-energy buses are also gradually making their way onto the global stage; in recent years, they have been exported to more than 30 countries and regions.
On November 23, 100 Yutong pure-electric buses were shipped to Chile aboard a large ocean-going vessel. It is reported that this order of 100 pure-electric buses marks Yutong’s first-ever new-energy bus order in Chile—and also represents the largest single export order of Chinese new-energy buses to date, setting a new record for the largest single overseas order of Chinese new-energy buses ever placed.
On November 29, the “Hande Pure Electric Bus Delivery and Shipment Ceremony to Seoul, South Korea” was held at the company’s production base in Suzhou Industrial Park. The first batch of 10 Hande pure electric buses will soon set off for South Korea to serve public transportation in Seoul.
Domestic bus manufacturers are now exploring more comprehensive forms of overseas expansion, moving beyond simple vehicle exports to encompass the full-scale export of capital, technology, and brands. This involves a wide range of activities, including joint venture plant construction, technology transfer, technical training, CKD component export for assembly, trademark licensing, and financial operations.
“Actually, some countries are still unclear about the construction, operation, and management of charging infrastructure. As China’s new-energy buses go global, they’re also taking Chinese charging operators along with them,” Xu Yanhua told our newspaper. “In the global transition of public transportation, China is now fully capable of contributing its own wisdom and experience.”
